About
What’s your favourite inspirational/motivational quote or song lyric?: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
Marianne Williamson is the author of A Return to Love
What's an achievement outside your work that you're particularly proud of?: An achievement outside of my work that my husband and I particularly proud of is building an intergenerational home with our oldest daughter and her family. This unique living arrangement reflects our commitment to a village-hearted, interdependent way of life. It's been incredibly rewarding to create a space where multiple generations can come together, fostering strong family bonds and supporting each other. Plus, the added bonus of being able to retire earlier than most is something we're truly grateful for, making our accomplishment even sweeter.
What's one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know?: One interesting fact about me that not many people know is that I am a carrier of ancient songs that I sing in indigenous ceremonies. It's a deeply meaningful aspect of my life that connects me to rich cultural traditions and allows me to contribute to spiritual practices in a profound way.
Does your business make any social or environmental impacts that are personally important or significant to you? Why?: Yes, my business focuses on the decolonization and indigenization of early childhood program offerings, which holds immense personal significance to me. By reclaiming our traditional medicines, wisdom, and knowledge, we tap into the strength, resilience, and transformation inherent in indigenous cultures. This approach not only enriches the educational experiences of young children but also contributes to the broader social and environmental impact of promoting cultural preservation and sustainability. It's deeply meaningful to me to be able to honor and celebrate indigenous heritage while creating positive change in the early childhood education landscape.
